Love of Self by Quenby Tyler
Inside Look at the Artist | Quenby Tyler
In her early 20’s, Tyler enrolled in a painting class on a whim and instantly found her passion and voice through art. Within a short time she was entering shows, selling her work and winning awards. However, it wasn’t until Hurricane Ivan destroyed her vintage clothing shop that she finally decided to make the leap into painting full time. Working from live models, snapshots and vintage photos, Tyler’s paintings often depict lively scenes from bygone eras.
Her portfolio of work can be found at quenbyart.com.
It’s interesting to see what artists will do with a theme! Each has a unique perspective in understanding, expression and execution. It was a pleasure seeing the array of submissions. Congratulations to the staff for a successful launch and to each of the participating artists. It’s always a bit of a nail butter to submit work, but worth the effort.
I was so impressed with the ‘outside the box’ thinking and conceptual approach to ‘love’ taken by so many of the artists. Quenby Tyler’s vintage spin absolutely swept me away.
One look at ‘Love of Self’ by Quenby Tyler and the story of her subject practically jumps off the page. Tyler’s entry also presented an unexpected look at a very different type of love.
