Preparing Images

Format Requirements:

  • Format: JPEG, PNG or PDF
  • Dimensions: Minimum 1024 Pixels Wide | Maximum 2500 Pixels Wide
  • Resolution: 75-125 Pixels Per Inch

Labeling Images

Submissions must be labeled like the following:

Name of Contest_Artist Full Name_Title of Work
Example: Calm in Chaos_Jane Doe_Ocean Waves

  • “Artist Name” on image label must match name used in order
  • No special characters (i.e. #, $, &, periods, *)

Follow these rules carefully to ensure your work is uploaded and stored properly in our database.

Eligibility

Online Art Contests are open to all amateur and professional artists.

The competition is open to international participation unless identified on the Contest Page. International winners may incur shipping fees.

Experimental and mixed techniques are also welcome.

Only 2D work is eligible. We will be expanding into other areas soon!

How to Enter

Once a contest is open you can select your entry level at the bottom of the Contest Page. Once selected, you will be prompted to PayPal to pay the entry fee corresponding with the entry level you have chosen. A PayPal account is not necessary to make online payments.

Upon payment you will be redirected to the Entry Submission Page where you can upload images of your work and provide details on each piece with contact information.

Please follow each step closely to assure your participation in the contest is successfully submitted.

Rules

  • Follow the Labeling Images guidelines above carefully. Improperly labeled images could result in exclusion from the competition.
  • A maximum of 5 entries will be accepted per artist per call.
  • No refunds are available.

Winner Requirements

Winners will be asked to provide The Online Art Contest with a short bio (250 words or less), written in the third person.

Winner Agreements

The Online Art Contest reserves the right, when necessary, to size or crop submitted imagery to create faltering promotional collateral.

The Online Art Contest reserves the right, when necessary, to edit grammar or shorten bios provided by the artist.

Based on the Art Contest, judging criteria will be:

  • Clarity of your interpretation of the contest theme
  • The originality of your creativity
  • Composition and execution of the overall design

Trust us, it helps! We request a short bio (250 words or less), written in the third person that tells us more about yourself. If you need help getting started, consider answering these questions:

  • Describe your artistic training.
  • What inspires you?
  • What are your media choices?
  • Do you use any special techniques?
  • Mention any prior exhibits or awards that will get you noticed!

Be sure to include your website URL or social media handles.

Unfortunately, no. We make every effort to give artists ample time for submission and clearly mark deadlines on each Call Page. These deadlines are strictly followed and no exceptions are provided.

Our first entry level is $8.50 and allows for one piece to be submitted.

Our second entry level is $15.00 and allows for two pieces to be submitted.

Our third entry level is $25.00 and allows for five pieces to be submitted.

Standard download options have been disabled on our website. While no system is fool proof, The Online Art Contest makes every effort to ensure your artwork can not be downloaded from our website.
